We learned about data, with a very sweet lesson.
After looking at a real life tally from a local restaurant, where a meal was being served to over 100 people, we talked about tallies and how and why we use them in the real world.
Sparkles the Elf brought us sweets to make gingerbread houses. We used the mini Smarties to explore data.
We estimated how many of each colour was in the box. We sorted them by colour, discussing our favourite and least favourite.
We used tallies to record how many sweets of each colour we had.
Then we graphed them on to a pictographic to represent the data, before discussing the results.
It was very hard to put the sweets back in the box.
So we ate them 😇
